Sentence Builder app by Mobile Education Store- Review and Give Away

I was pleasantly surprised by an email that I received in late August from Kyle Tomson of the Mobile Education Store asking if I would like an opportunity to review some of his popular applications.  Without hesitation, I humbly requested to review Sentence Builder and Kyle quickly provided access to two versions, one for young children and Sentence Builder Teen.  Both apps won the 2010 IEAR Language Arts App of the year award!  This week, I will review and give away a code for the Sentence Builder app.  Come back next week for a review and give away for Sentence Builder Teen!

Sentence Builder for young children displays a four to six word sentence with word selection choices for a majority of the sentence.  There are three levels of play with the lowest level showing fewer choices.  The goal is to create a grammatically correct sentence about a picture.  You can track statistics by setting up accounts for each individual child.  Sentence Builder seems suitable for children under ten years old.  Below are three sample screens of Sentence Builder.

There are so many redeeming qualities about this Sentence Builder app, but I will do my best to highlight the items myself and my young examiners enjoyed!

Sentence Builder:
~ Colorful computer generated pictures help children maintain attention
~ Covers a variety of targets including: pronoun usage, noun-verb agreement, and adverbs
~ Controls allow you to set verbal and/ visual encouragements
~ Verbal encouragements vary from one to the next and sound natural, not computer generated
~ Many of the visual reinforcers are silly and interesting for young children
~ Three levels of play allow you to scroll through as few as three or as many as five choices
